6th June 2013 Home To Wyre

Well sadly it's going to be a poor report this week as not only did we lose badly but I managed to leave my camera's memory card at home... Which meant I could only take about 10 pictures using the internal memory. However all was not lost as I rememberred that I'd packed my video camera which can also do still shots... With such l-o-n-g shutter lag that it wasn't up to much... And without being fully charged there wasn't enough juice to video the game. Ho hum.

A splendid summer evening saw Wyre win the toss and naturally decide to bat. And while Captain Frosty did his level best to gee up the Jollys attack Wyre were in fine batting form and, despite us taking wickets steadyily, batted through their 20 overs to eventually finish with 141 for 9.

So Tom and Jol start the Jollys innings knowing they had their work cut out. Sadly however we get off to a terrible start as Tom gets off the mark before Jol is caught behind for a totally uncharacteristic golden. This brings Ian in at number 3 who puts on a great partnership with Tom with Tom retiring and Ian making 23 before getting caught.

Unfortunatley though it all started to go downhill after this point with the middle order having a good old fashioned Jollys collapse with Ogs top scoring with 3 ! But we did manage to salvage a bit of pride as thanks to some sporting bowling from Wyre Tony (batting one handed) and your humble scribe managed to bat out the last 5 overs with Tony finishing with a magnificent 15 and me managing to eke out 5 runs.

So a well deserved win for Wyre and our first defeat of the season !

Hooray ! It must be a good night as Bri, "Carpet Col" and Walt have made their way down to watch the action. But will they see anything as good as the "Terminator"this evening ?

Jol and Tom are opening the batting this week and it all goes wrong on the third ball as Jol is caught behind for a duck.

As usual the Cottam Hall pitch is throwing up it's usual array of random bounces. Here's one that suddenly jumped up at Tom.

Ian comes in at number 3 where goes on to put on a good partnership with Tom before gettig caught for 23.

It's a confident appeal but umpire Frosty is having none of it so Tom's free to continue, eventually retiring having scored 25.

Despite my best efforts most of the rest of the pictures are not up to much leaving only this shot of Dave about to get off the mark. Sadly though this was about all he could do as he was soon caught having made 1.

Well the rest of the pictures were not up to much but I did manage to save the final picture for the Old Town Hall where Des once again provided a splendid tray of butties !

In an effort to make up for the dissapointment of this weeks report we have pleasure in presenting a real life "hot nature action" picture (this is a piss poor attampt to "sex up" the report - ed.)

biting_midge_small.gif Midge Report: Aha, our cousins at Hodgson were right. Bzzzt. These fat fools are rather tasty. Bzzzt. Bzzzt. So it looks like we'll be feasting on lager fueled blood for the rest of the summer. Bzzzt. Bzzzt.
